Patriotism

Maple Hill Chapter, NSDAR, demonstrates its love of country in the many patriotic endeavors it pursues, including:

  • Sending care packages each month to deployed troops
     

  • Presenting awards to outstanding Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) cadets at local high schools

  • Placing wreaths on veterans’ graves as part of the “Wreaths Across America” initiative
     

  • Organizing Constitution Week activities during the week of Sep. 17-23 including bell-ringing ceremonies for Bells Across America and presentations at local schools
     

  • Distributing copies of the U.S. Constitution
     

  • Providing United States Flags to new Habitat for Humanity homeowners
     

  • Maintaining an American flag on the grave of U.S. Army Captain Wade C. Ramsey, who was killed in 2011 in Afghanistan when his company came under fire
     

  • Presenting DAR Good Citizens awards to high school seniors and DAR Youth Citizenship Medals to grades five through 12
